Italy

These four days in Italy were so great!
I’ve been fourwheeldriving, went on safari, visited the Hanbury Botanical Garden in Ventimiglia, many nice bridges and waterfalls, went to a spa and even had a wonderful dinner in a restaurant where you don’t order, they just bring one course after the other (Ristorante Ca’ Mea in Badalucco, it’s fabulous)!
I’ve also seen some snow and plenty of fog! The weather was pretty diverse but all in all we were lucky. I love the sound of the frogs, the sea and the birds so very much and could listen to it all day!
Here are some impressions:

Walk to Albispass

Today was perfect weather to do a nice walk. It was sunny, cloudy, windy, warm, just the right mix from all of it! The view was great and on the way were blooming magnolias, fragrant wild garlic and plenty of inviting benches to relax and enjoy.

Instead of looking for chocolate on eastern, once more I’ve picked up a lot of trash on the way. That makes me feel like I did something good, inspires others to do the same, is good for the environment and it’s at least as many lunges as many do on a regular routine in the gym.
And hey, if you are one of the ones who throw rubbish wherever you want to: Please stop it. It makes no sense and isn’t good for anyone (and it doesn’t make you look cool at all).

Here’s some impressions from today:

Arosa

Last Saturday we did the squirrel-path in Arosa. We fed the squirrels with hazelnuts which they took from our hands, ran away to dig them in the ground and came back to get another one. In the meantime some birds ate the the hidden nuts and also the ones we offered them.

Later we did a downhill hike from the top to the middle cable car station. The landscape and the view across the mountains are amazing!
And for those who haven’t seen the Toblerone-bear in its logo, I took a picture of it for you.
As a special surprise we even saw the bear Napa (a 12 years old bear who got recovered from a life in a circus) in it’s new open-air enclosure!

Prättigau

Prättigau in the canton of Graubünden is a lovely area and perfect for hiking and enjoying mother nature. A place to forget about your job and just feel, see, smell, taste and listen.
And how good it was to spend a few days with my best friend and walk, talk, eat and play cards with her.
If you visit Graubünden, make sure, you’ll try Capuns (a local speciality), it’s delicious!

Pilatus

From Alpnachstad leads the worlds steepest (48%) rack railway up to Pilatus. From up there the view is terrific! You can see many lakes and far into Switzerlands countryside.

An insider tip is the café on the bottom of the railway, they have one of the best ice creams I’ve ever had. (with real vanilla and the strawberry one had fruit pieces in it!)

And of course the weather up there is colder than the heat in the city. Just don’t forget sun-protection (caring advice from a nurse).
