Fasnacht Basel 2026 – Wednesday

Here are some impressions from Wednesday.
The monument with the sun is “Basler Münster”, around which the laterns are on display from Monday evening until Wednesday morning. The black and white towers are “Roche” headquarter (pharmacy) and the building in the city is “Haus Sodeck”.
This year’s carnival motto was “Blyyb verspiilt” (stay playful). I hope we all find some lovely moments even when times are rough.
“OM” are the optimists with black-and-white musicians and some colorful masks in between. They state, that it’s worth trying to stay optimistic, knowing it’s hard and we all have a pessimistic side.

May love guide us, compassion unite us, and peace belong to us all.

Fasnacht Basel – Morgestraich

At 04:00 a.m. all lights are turned off, except for the laterns. The cliques start marching and play the famous Morgestraich with their drums and piccolo flutes.
Morgestraich is the beginning of Basler Fasnacht and for me it’s a very magic moment.

For visitors: please turn off your lights and screens. Don’t use flash or focus lights. There is plenty of time later to take some pictures/Videos.

Grand Tour of Switzerland – Bodensee

From St. Gallen we drove via Altenrhein (building by Friedensreich Hundertwasser) along Bodensee to Rorschach, Romanshorn, Altnau to Arenenberg.
There we visited the Napoleon museum and its beautiful garden.
Bodensee has a lot of water at the moment. You can see the access path to the sun loungers was flooded.
Thank you so much for the great time and the wonderful memories 🙂

St. Gallen

In St. Gallen we visited the Stiftsbezirk (Abbey Library, Vaulted Cellar and Exhibition Space), St. Gallen Cathedral and did a guided tour through the city.
There are so many stunning details to see and I really like the way the houses are built.
