Funday

We had a great Funday (Sunday)!
We went to a great quiet swimmingplace without tourists by crossing some sand with 4WD and had a great swim and sun bath there 🙂
After that, we visited Kuranda (with lots of tourists) and the Barron Falls, which are great waterfalls!
On top of that, we hat delicious dinner in Cairns (even if fries turned into rice and veggies in Salad 😉 )
What more do you want to have on a Funday? 😉

Solareclipse

Last week was all in all a great experience with some memorable moments:
Total solar eclipse near the Palmer River Road House, QLD
Wonderful campsite at the festival with view on a lake, lots of birds, a kangaroo and a croc!
Good vibes with my new drum
Thousands of tiny frogs on the Keatings Lagoon
Bloomfield waterfall
Crossing some rivers with my Troop

Pictures are following

What happened?

A good friend is in hospital and I’ve seen her in very bad condition.
They say she had an overdose of drugs..
But I’m very sure she would never take any drugs!
So I’m just wondering what’s going on in some people’s head, which makes them do such things..

almost ready

the day is here when I’m leaving to the solar-eclipse-festival 🙂
But there’s still a lot to do, so I can’t stay to long in front of the computer..
I guess I won’t have any mobile phone or internet reception there, so don’t be worried if I don’t answer a message!

Have a good time!

Wednesday

Now it’s Wednesday and my week began quite busy! After a lot of trouble with the bank in my hometown, Visa and Western Union, I finally bought Troop yesterday!

But there’s still a lot to do, such as registry, insurance, buy a lot of equipment and sort out the given equipment I won’t need.
Not only were there fishing materials but also mousetraps!

Although I have a lot to do, I took the time for a walk at the Esplanade and it was really relaxing.

Hello again

I had not written for a while because I had a strange week and was feeling sick.

But there were some great moments anyway!

We did the Red Arrow Walk in the night, it’s an amazing view! (But I hadn’t had my camera with me..) And how wonderful must it be during the daytime! I’m sure I’ll show you this view before I’m going to leave Cairns.

And today I had a 40-minute massage in the night-market. That was very relaxing. Not to mention the price of 15 bucks!

Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park

Yesterday evening we went to Tjapukai and had a great time.

As we missed the welcome drink, the evening started with a magic space cultural Initiation with dance and didgeridoo. After that they guided us to the lakeside where we were part of a fire-making-ceremony. We danced, sang and clapped the rhythm with clapsticks. They’re really fast in making a nice fire without a lighter, just using two wooden sticks! Afterwards, they threw some fire over the lake which inflamed a huge fire-ball explosion!

The four-course buffet dinner was excellent and there was a great performance on the stage in the restaurant. When they asked if somebody remembered the aboriginal name for fire, I was the one who gave the answer (It’s pronounced “birri”). For that they let me come on the stage and I got the opportunity to dance with them and make fire as they showed before. It’s pretty hard! 🙂 And on top of that I’d got a boomerang as a present. Awesome!

The lovely fireplace outside smelled different to the fire at home, maybe because it’s not european wood?

Moreover, the art gallery was impressive, very detailed thought-provoking drawings, much better than the souvenirs in the tourist shops 😉
